Dear Friends,

It's an exciting time to be a Catholic in East Tulsa, especially at St. Thomas More Catholic Church! I am happy and honored to share the good news of the grand reopening of the Helping Hands Food Pantry.

The opening date was December 2, 2022.

We are proud to announce that we have partnered with Catholic Charities and Sts. Peter and Paul, to receive help from them in the form of food.

Through these months of construction and preparation for the re-opening of our Helping Hands Food Pantry, it has been evident of the great support and needs there are for this ministry in our community.

I want to express my gratitude to the committee which has been working very hard to have everything ready and organized so that we were able to open the doors of our food pantry on Friday, December 2, 2022.

Together we will be able to serve our brothers and sisters who find themselves in vulnerable situations for many years to come. As Catholics, we are called to care for the poor.

To quote Pope Paul VI, "It will be necessary above all to abandon a mentality in which the poor – as individuals and as peoples – are considered a burden, as irksome intruders trying to consume what others have produced… The advancement of the poor constitutes a great opportunity for the moral, cultural, and even economic growth of all humanity.” 

So let us be thankful to God for the opportunity He is giving us to exercise our call to serve the poor.
